How to care for your
duvets and pillows
General advice for all materials
Mites thrive in damp, warm and dark environments.
Therefore, when you wake up in the morning, air your
duvets and pillows well so remaining moisture can
evaporate before putting them back on the bed.
Moreover, you can wash all IKEA duvets and pillows at
60°C (apart from memory foam pillows, where only the
cover can be washed), the temperature at which mites
die. To keep your duvets and pillows free from mites
and dirt, carefully follow the washing instructions. Air
your duvets and pillows often so they will be free from
dust and stay fresh and dry.
You can prolong the life of your pillows with a pillow
protector which protects them from stains and dirt,
